Newsvetter was created to:
- make sure that news presenters have answered key questions about the substance of their news before they send it to you for consideration
- make sure they have answered key questions about your publication and what you cover
- make sure news presenters are accountable for the quality of their work and how they interact with you
Create a Newsvetter profile and start redirecting PR professionals and their press releases and pitches
Create/log-in to your Newsvetter account and complete the news media profile. Click the "contact badge" tab and copy the code in the box and embed it on your blog or website. The badge directs people to your "public" news media profile on Newsvetter and from there they can send you tips/ideas using the Newsvetter vetting process. If you don't have a place for the badge you can still fill out the profile and direct PR people there in an email signature or link from your website or blog.
After news presenters complete the vetting process they will email you a link to their submission. A submission can only be sent directly to you after key questions about your publication and news beat have been answered.
Evaluate news submissions
Many of you are inundated with poorly constructed press releases and pitches. Rating and commenting allows you to provide constructive feedback that will be visible to all Newsvetter visitors. This process helps news presenters learn from the successes and failures of their peers and enables them to better serve your needs in the future.
Submit story ideas to editors
You can vet your own story ideas and send them to editors for review using Newsvetter's vetting process.
To access it, you'll need to login into your news media profile (or create a news media account). Click the submit story idea link on the left under your account information. Complete the vetting process and click submit. Note: If you don't want to share your story idea with others make sure you've checked the hidden box on the vetting template. To send to a particular editor click the send to media tab at the top and fill out the form and questions. Note: It's a good idea to check the send yourself a copy box at the bottom of the form so you have a record of what you sent.
